I am a Member of the European Parliament representing GroenLinks within the Greens/EFA group. As such I am a member of various committees that are involved with the environment, economic and monetary affairs and transport. We face that the depletion of resources, global climate change and extinction of animal species are all consequences of our current way of living. These cross border problems make it necessary for Europe to play an important role. It is therefore necessary to foster our planet and make sure that future generations will have the same quality of life as we are enjoying now. I try to achieve this goal in my daily work, by developing and implementing new policies on behalf of the European Parliament. However, this transition towards a sustainable society is not something that governments can do on their own. We also need more concrete actions on a local level which makes it necessary to stimulate people to change their behaviour. Therefore, Storm makes their members aware of the impact they have on the environment. It is very important that people understand the consequences of their actions. In Brussels we are striving to establish the right pathway towards a sustainable society, but we need organisations like Storm to get everybody along. Together we can make a difference!'
