Missing Maps

Storm, along with other Faculty of Geosciences associations, has organized the Missing Maps Mapathon several years in a row: from 2018 until 2021, so far. This project is a collaboration between the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap team. The goal is to locate and map possible high-risk locations around the world that were not yet on the radar. Through the use of satellite images, all participants are able to highlight vulnerable areas. Mapping these areas results in a more efficient humanitarian aid. It also makes it easier for first responders to assess the impacts of natural disasters, as well as reaching people in need.
